CHICAGO POLICE AND CAPS INDEX PAGE
Community – police "Beat 114" meetings in the New Eastside, called CAPS (Community Alternative Policing Strategy) meetings, are held every other month on the second Thursday of the month, at the 400 E. Randolph building. The meetings start at 6:30 PM and last less than 1 hour.   Allresidents of the neighborhood are encouraged to attend

It is difficult to draw any conclusions from the Beat 114 data because it is a combination of crimes in both our New Eastside PLUS all of GRANT PARK. Following "trends" is difficult because major events in Grant Park can distort data for reporting periods including events like Taste of Chicago or Lallopalooza.

However the Chicago Police Department provides online access to an interactive MAP and database of crime incidents at: http://gis.chicagopolice.org/website/ClearMap/viewer.htm?POLICEDIST=001
If you forget this link address, we will post it on our website homepage in the left margin under POLICE/CAPS INDEX at www.neweastside.org
Just select Beat 114 (or your address) and the desired Date Period to obtain incident location, crime type, and if an arrest was made. Sometimes additional details (that are not confidential) may be available on a particular Case # by calling the Community Policing CAPS Office at 312-745-4381 or at the bi-monthly CAPS meetings on the 2nd Thursdays of odd-numbered months (mark your calendars) at 6:30 PM at 400 Randolph.

When NEAR learns of specifics of a particular incident that should be shared with our residents, we forward that information quickly to our email list of over 1300 addresses. Your neighbors can add their email address in the upper-right corner our New Eastside community website at www.neweastside.org Our database of email addresses has never been shared since started in 1999.
